Athens Opera House

Essepiwood manufactured 400 custom armchairs for the Athens Opera House's extraordinary main hall dominated by a glass dome, a masterpiece of contemporary architecture by Renzo Piano.

The armchairs are made of beech plywood panels finished in Swiss pear wood. The challenging design required that the electrified armrest be provided with an opening to house the microphone while another opening had to be created in the backrest for the interactive monitor. The foldable seats are equipped with an underseat made of micro perforated beech plywood in order to improve acoustics.
